TEXT MESSAGING POLICY

Text messaging is provided as a limited administrative convenience only and is not a clinical communication channel.

Text messaging is NOT appropriate for urgent or emergency needs.
If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, you must call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.


Permitted Use of Text Messaging

Text messaging may ONLY be used for:

  • Scheduling an appointment
  • Confirming an appointment
  • Rescheduling or canceling an appointment

Prohibited Use of Text Messaging

Text messaging may NOT be used for:

  • Clinical questions or concerns
  • Medication-related questions (including refills, side effects, or shipping issues)
  • Requests for medical advice
  • Updates on symptoms or treatment
  • Any non-administrative communication

Billing for Non-Permitted Text Messages

Any text message that falls outside of the permitted uses listed above will be considered concierge-level communication.

  • A fee of $50.00 per message will be charged to the card on file
  • Alternatively, patients may elect to enter into a separate concierge agreement for expanded access

Enforcement

Repeated misuse of text messaging may result in:

  • Discontinuation of text communication privileges
  • Requirement to use the patient portal only
  • Additional administrative or concierge fees
